BHS is a regional trauma centre and receives referrals from throughout the Grampians region. The Emergency Department has an annual attendance of 54,000 patients (27% paediatrics), with an admission rate of 18%. Across all categories, 75% of our patients are seen on time.

The department has an excellent training program, with paid training time for residents (6), interns (8) and registrars (10). We have had recent success in the ACEM exams and are currently accredited for 12 months ED Advanced Training.

Opportunities exist to integrate work at Ballarat Health Services with two universities.

Applicants must be registered (or eligible for specialist registration) with AHPRA and have FACEM (or equivalent) qualifications.

The initial contract is for 12 months with possibility of extension.
