The unit currently provides inpatient and outpatient services, including a Liver Clinic and has a growing clinical research program. A busy endoscopy service to be lead by Gastroenterology is jointly provided with surgeons. Subspecialty interest including interventional endoscopy and hepatology would be most welcome.

Applicants must have a primary medical qualification fully registrable with the Medical Board of Australia, hold an FRACP or equivalent in Gastroenterology and have or be eligible for specialist recognition under Medicare.

The BHS midwifery unit is the major midwifery referral centre for Grampians Region and consists of 16 antenatal/postnatal beds, 5 birthing suits and an 8 cot Level 2 special care nursery. This is supported by our ambulatory services including antenatal clinics, childbirth education and domiciliary care.

The Regional Midwife Program offers short term placements for midwives from the Grampians region. Applicants can select from two models – the paid model and the unpaid model.

PAID MODEL: Applicants are offered a short-term casual contract for 10 shifts and can elect to work two days a week for five weeks or one day a week for ten weeks. They can work in antenatal clinic, labour ward, postnatal ward or special care nursery. This program is offered throughout the year, however there are limited places which are allocated on a first-in first-served basis.

UNPAID MODEL: Applicants work alongside a BHS midwife in a supernumerary capacity for an elected number of shifts. They can work in antenatal clinic, labour ward, postnatal ward, special care nursery, domiciliary, breastfeeding or childbirth education.

Applicants are expected to come with their own learning objectives which we will support them to meet.

We have an exciting opportunity within our Planned Activity Group Unit for a trainee to join our team as a Program Assistant while undertaking Certificate III or IV in Aged Care.

Our unit, which operates across four sites in Ballarat, is well equipped to support a trainee through its diverse range of programs. Our enthusiastic staff are on hand daily to guide learning and to pass on their combined years of experience. If you are committed to undertaking further study and have a passion for this type of work, this may be the perfect opportunity for you.

Applicants must have a genuine interest in working with the elderly and be committed to completing a traineeship. The level of qualification completed will depend on prior experience in the field of aged care.

The applicants must be willing to work within a team environment, be aware of OH&S and infection control policies and procedures and have the relevant qualifications in Personal Care and Food Handling.

Knowledge of aged care documentation requirements is desirable and an awareness of quality systems and standards in aged care would be an advantage.

The successful applicants will be required to work rotating shifts that will incorporate some night duty.

Homelessness Youth Dual Diagnosis Clinician

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and innovative clinician to lead reforms in the provision of youth dual diagnosis services across the Ballarat and Grampians Region.

This new position will change and enhance clinical services to young homeless individuals, who also have a number of significant and complex needs that can only be met through well planned and coordinated treatment.

The successful applicant will be based with the youth homelessness services across the Grampians region, providing a mixture and direct patient treatment as well as enhancing workforce capacity in responding to and working with complex needs, particularly mental health and substance use.

A sound understanding of contemporary evidence based, family inclusive mental health and substance use treatments, particularly relevant to youth and the challenges associated in this area, will be required to undertake this role
